Conducted a detailed and extensive alternatives analysis to
determine whether goals could be addressed through a de-centralized
on-site wastewater system.
Analysis included individual on-site and cluster on-site
wastewater systems, as well as direct discharge alternatives.
Six different trailer parks have inadequate land area for
community on-site wastewater systems. Many homes have small lots
with inadequate isolation distance for functional on-site systems.
Conventional wastewater collection and treatment system
demonstrated to be the most practical and cost-effective option.
Through close coordination with US EPA effort to clean-up a
superfund site, wastewater treatment facility will be located on a
brownfield site saving $750,000 in construction costs.
Proposed project will encourage development within three
population centers and discourage random and scattered growth outside
these areas. Town can easily control future connection to force
mains and pump stations.
Proposed project includes:
62,000 lf of gravity sewers
51,000 lf of sewer force main
11 wastewater pump stations
SBR treatment facility with ultraviolet disinfection and
containerized sludge composting
